Ulises Valarezo is a multidisciplinary artist who is inspired by conceptual art. In his narratives, he explores time, perception, places and human experiences.

Valarezo's work analyses the ways in which an image can be associated and translated. He is interested in decomposing the idea of the 'subject' in order to explore its nature. The artist looks at spaces as the construction of memory and the body as a way to understand social functions. All this together helps him to see in a rational way how we perceive and relate to both our inner world and outer world.

Valarezo says: “In my work, we see silhouettes and forms that suggest the human presence habiting a space. For me, exploring the places where I live helps me understand and assimilate cultural identity and the idea of ‘home’. Also, the camera is the material source that drives this idea of finding ‘the place’ through the public space because it engages real relationships with real people in a real-time and place."

The artist is fascinated by the phenomenology of perception and casual encounters. The purpose of his work is to articulate a casual encounter in a social dimension both inside and outside the showroom. Valarezo believes that these casual encounters will serve to particularly explore the idea of belonging in a place, leaving the viewer in an analytical and thoughtful state.
